Panama is one of the top birding destinations in the world. It is home to nearly 1,000 recorded species of birds with twelve national endemics and 107 regional endemics. More birds frequent the Isthmus of Panama than the United States and Canada combined. Most of the best birding areas are accessible from Panama City by car on good roads or a short flight, making it possible to attain a very long bird list within a short period of time.
Located on the Caribbean coast, Belize is a colorful blend of birds, forests and cascading waterfalls. Combined with the beautiful biodiversity of Guatemala’s Peten Region, as well as the rich cultural heritage of both nations, a visit to this part of the world is a wonderful way to experience the unique cultures, traditions, and natural landscape this area has to offer. Tours to this region combine birding with visits to spectacular Mayan ruins, hikes through rainforests, boat rides along pristine rivers, and snorkeling in turquoise waters amidst colorful coral reefs.
Though we specialize in tours to Central America, our work around the globe has given us the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best biologists, naturalists, and birders from other parts of the world. A shared passion for wildlife and conservation, and a mutual desire to share this passion with as many people as possible, has led to the creation of additional travel destinations with Whitehawk. From searching for snow leopards in the Himalayas to photographing cheetahs in the Masai Mara, or watching raptors in migration over the Strait of Gibraltar, we have put much care and thought into planning every detail of these trips. Please take a moment to check them out.
