Whitehawk is unlike the vast majority of ecotourism companies. For us, the conservation of birds and their habitat is a top priority. While we are dedicated to organizing unique, rewarding, memorable tours that are centered on bird and wildlife observation, this is only part of our work.
25% of the profits from each tour are destined for local conservation projects. This means that everyone who takes a trip with us is contributing to the development of these programs, and therefore to the direct conservation of the birds they have traveled to see.
Whitehawk's involvement in these efforts means that sometimes our clients will get to meet and converse with the researchers, biologists, and educators directly involved in local conservation projects, either through presentations as we relax in the hotel or during a visit to a field site. We believe it is important for travelers and birders to know first hand about conservation activities and to involved in them. We hope everyone who travels with Whitehawk returns home with a feeling that their journey has a meaning beyond the simple enjoyment of a holiday, and that they are contributing positively to conservation.
At the moment we are working on creating a network of organizations and individuals who can benefit from donations from Whitehawk. From Belize to Nepal, via Spain, we already have several projects in mind. We will be updating this section periodically as we get involved in more projects. We will keep you informed through our blog and Facebook page!
